How Does It Work?

Requests for resources or services are reported to Compassion Network through local congregations, partner agencies and walk-in referrals.

In response to these requests, Compassion Network moves quickly to find the right person, resource, or program to meet each need.

In order to do this, Compassion Network utilizes our extensive data-base and clientele history, and provides appropriate screening.

Once the screening process is completed, Compassion Network is able to meet the specific need and ensures that the client is satisfied with the results.

Working with the Church

When a local congregation identifies an individual or family in need, but is unable to meet that need, the congregation is encouraged to call Compassion Network. Compassion Network will then search within their data base to find resources and volunteers to meet that need.

To facilitate this process, each congregation provides its own volunteer liaison. After the liaison is trained by Compassion Network, they begin to identify individual volunteers whose abilities and interests mesh well with the specific needs of the client.

Each liaison is given access to a church login so they are able to search the Compassion Network data base. In the data base, each liaison is able to find a willing volunteer to address the specific need.

Once the volunteer is matched to the client, Compassion Network completes the final screening and the match is official. Once the clients' need is met, the case is closed until further service is requested.

In addition to these basic services, local congregations are encouraged to use the Compassion Network to request volunteers for group events, outreach projects, office assistance and other community needs.

In this way, local congregations are able to work together as "one church" in our three cities. This networking approach provides an effective way to maximize our efforts and to streamline the process of providing care.

Working for our 3 cities

When a social service agency, social worker or case manager identifies a client or program in need, they are encouraged to forward their specific request for help to the Compassion Network for assistance.

In response, the Compassion Network searches the matrix of volunteers, to meet the need. Often times, after assessing the client's request, the Compassion Network will be able to make an individualized referral to not only a local congregation, but also to one or more of the 25 social service agencies within the Family Resource Center. This approach broadens our ability to meet these needs, because we are drawing on a larger pool of people and resources to do the job.

Once each client is adequately screened, Compassion Network provides them with a specialized referral. Compassion Network personally evaluates every request for help, and carefully considers the best course of action in every case.
